Der Hof Clasen
The Clasen farm is a typical Lower Saxony family farm, with two generations of family running it today: The first noted history of the farm starts in 1250, the farm has always been operated by the family although it was owned by the church until the early 1800´s. We harvest our own hay and silage as well as the straw for the horses.
We grow crops like wheat and barley , sugar beets and rape on 240 acres. The grain is milled and stored on the farm . We feed it to the pigs (nearly 2700 fatening places-that needs a lot grain). Photo: The wheat and barley is stored on the farm with acid(like termits do it)
And - the slurry from the pigs is an excellent fertiliser for the horse pasture especially as a starter in the later winter!
Here you see the farm from above and on the right the old horse barn:
Here you see 2 images of the indoor arena (built in 2003): Ten more stalls and a very bright new 15 x 30 m indoor arena that gives us lots of possibilities to exercise as well as over ! .
